Rachel Blackman is a software engineer based out of Seattle, WA. When not at her day job, she is an aspiring writer and rides horses, and -- of course -- takes photographs. Many, many photographs.

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Rachel became interested in photography first through her grandfather -- an aficionado of black and white film photography -- at a young age. However, she put aside her film camera for many years, only later rediscovering photography in the digital era. First with an early Kodak digital camera, then a little Olympus Stylus Digital, and then back into the world of SLRs with a Canon Digital Rebel XTi, a 40D, and finally a 5D Mark II.

As a photographer, Rachel likes to try new things; she enjoys setting a challenge for herself and trying to meet them, and often finds her challenges through working with other photographers in the Seattle area community. Twin Geeks Photography is no exception; where her partner Terence approaches photography often from a technical standpoint about how to properly get a shot, Rachel is more about the composition. Their skills compliment each other well, making for a rewarding collaboration.

For someone who lives her life in a wired world, Rachel sometimes prefers older things; she writes with a fountain pen, wears an actual clockwork wristwatch, and on occasion she still shoots film. Black and white, of course; she likes to think her grandfather would be proud.
